A Survival Kit In The Trunk Of Your Car
A Survival Kit In The Trunk Of Your Car – Most folks have an emergency road kit in their car which may contain a road flare, a pair of jumper cables, and perhaps a funnel. Maybe even a bright orange sign that can be hung on the back of a stranded auto to signal other motorists that the car is stranded. You may even have another item or two.
Now, if your emergency is the fact that the car won’t start in the parking lot of the grocery store, that kit will probably be all that you need. However, if your emergency is such that you, your spouse and a child or two are stranded in the country or in the middle of nowhere, you just may need a more robust emergency survival kit.
An emergency survival kit in the trunk of your car should contain some items to sustain your life and safety from the elements, such as food, water, first aid items, as well as a small tent, some fire starting materials, maybe a shovel, and other items to help you in the outdoors without the modern conveniences of home.
It would be good to have a compass, some sort of signaling mirror, some waterproof matches, duct tape, some string, rope, or cord in addition to any foods that might be stored in the survival kit. Maybe some materials to catch some fish which may end up being another source of nourishment.
You would also want to have some sort of multi-function knife or tool, maybe a bright flashlight, and perhaps even a radio; either one that you crank or one that runs on batteries. It couldn’t hurt to have a small sewing kit to repair any clothing mishaps that might occur, and you may want to have some tissue paper and even some of those pre-moistened towelettes in individual packages.
You just never know when you can have a break down with the car, and be stranded for 12 to 72 hours or longer, and an emergency survival kit would be the smartest investment to make. Most folks never plan ahead for something like this. Whether it cost a hundred dollars, two hundred, or three, a survival kit in the trunk just may save your life someday, not to mention the spouse and kids.
